The hummingbirds are returning to New Mexico! Every year they continue to enchant me. It's time to put up the hummingbird feeders on the balcony. Hopefully we will get lots of visitors this summer!
Two wonderful photographers (Trina, author of Of Trees and Hues and Tara, author of Tara Victoria) have started a monthly photography challenge titled Between Lenses. The theme for April is warmth. Check out their beautiful imagery here and here.
For me, warmth can be caught in moments with friends and moments in nature. Honestly, when I'm with friends in nature, then life is beyond awesome. I chose a photo that is special to me, because it was taken after a long day of hiking with my best friend and husband in Mesa Verde National Park. We had just moved across the country to live on the Jicarilla Apache Reservation in Northern New Mexico. We were new to the area and didn't really know anyone yet, so we took this transitional time to go on adventures together. This photo of warmth doesn't show us, but rather it captures a moment of peace, reflection, and warmth for each of us. Where do you find warmth? The weather is warming up and hot air balloons are regularly taking to the sky in the mornings now. These pics were taken from a moving chase vehicle during the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta in October of 2013. I was very proud to shoot these photos of my husband flying passengers for a local balloon company.
